AKZO / McLaren 'Chrome'
So what a joy it was when AKZO Nobel and Dutch paint expert Sikkens approached us about a corporate documentary film...>>> In this item, we explored the colorful process from scratch to a chrome-like paint, especially developed for McLaren's Formula 1 racing cars. These speed demons are designed to be as light as possible, so the relatively flimsy chassis can never be made out of metal. But the McLaren team wanted a heat-proof coating with a solid metal look that could cover the material underneath.
Sikkens of the AKZO Nobel group developed it and the result is as good as it sounds. The sponsor's logos stand out in the sun, but moreover, the competition has pure intimidation glaring in his rearview mirror. That stuff works. And we got to interview techies all over the place and play at the race tracks.
We had fun. Does it show?
